Y mis hwn cawsom ychydig o fraw pan ddaru ni sylweddoli bod y dyddiad cau ar gyfer yr holl gwaith cynnwys terfynol yn prysur agosáu.  Dim ond dau fis ar ôl i ni gyflwyno’r holl gynnwys terfynol i Calvium! Sut ddigwyddodd hyn?  I ble’r aeth yr amser?  Rydym ar y trywydd iawn ac mae pethau’n dod at ei gilydd, ond nawr rydym yn gwireddu ein gobeithion ac mae pwysau’r dasg yn drymach na’r disgwyl.  Y realiti yw gall yr app yma fod mor fuddiol , mor ysbrydoledig a rhoi hwb i gymaint o bobl.

Gall rhoi’r rhyddid i unrhyw un ohonom ymweld â lleoliadau celfyddydol gyda mwy o hyder.  Gallwn ni gyd fod ar gae cyfartal gyda chymorth technoleg.  Mae gan bawb ohonom yr hawl i ymweld a lleoliadau celfyddydol  hardd sy’n hygyrch i bawb.  Mae’r potensial a’r manteision yn enfawr. Rydym wir yn gyffrous!

Wythnos diwethaf ddaru ni gwrdd a Jo a Danielle ar mwyn trafod yr elfen ‘Taith’ ar yr app.   Mae Danielle yn aelod o dim Calvium ac mae hi wedi bod yn gweithio gyda ni i ddatblygu’r system llwybro ar gyfer y lleoliadau. Mae Danielle yn gwneud gwaith codio ac mae’r tim wedi dod o hyd i ffordd glyfar a chymhleth iawn o lywio a chyfarwyddo pobl dan do trwy eich ffon symudol.   Mae’n rhaid i mi ddweud bod y system yn wych! Gall  meddyliau  sydd ddim yn dechnegol ddeall y system hyd yn oed!  Fel tîm ddaru ni  ymweld â Chanolfan Milenium Cymru i ddechrau casglu’r gwybodaeth angenrheidiol ar gyfer y  swyddogaeth ‘Taith’.  Roedd angen i ni gadarnhau ein tirnodau ac yna eu enwi.  Roedd rhaid gweithio allan y pellter a’r cyfeiriad rhwng pob un o’r tirnodau a meddwl os oedd angen unrhyw wybodaeth ychwanegol. Er enghraifft , rhybuddion am ddrysau gwydr , newid mewn golau , mannau prysur ac yn y blaen.  Rydym wedi penderfynnu, am resymau ymarferol, i ddefnyddio Siri ar gyfer y swyddogaeth ‘Taith’.  Fel hyn, mae’n cymryd llai o amser, mae’n llai costus ac yn fwy hyblyg.  Er enghraifft, os bydd unrhyw beth yn newid yn unrhyw un o’r lleoliadau ar unrhyw adeg gall y tîm yn Calvium wneud newidiadau technolegol yn gyflym iawn  i ddiweddaru’r app.  Rydym yn gobeithio y bydd hyn yn effeithiol gan fod pobl yn dechrau arfer a defnyddio  Siri erbyn hyn ac mae’r gymuned Nam Golwg yn sicr wedi arfer a gwrando ar leisiau awtomataidd tebyg.  Rydym dal yn awyddus i gadw’r teimlad personol o fewn yr app ac felly bydda i a Megan yn dal i recordio’r elfen ‘Cip Olwg’.  Gobeithio bydd y cydbwysedd yma’n gweithio.  Yr unig nam gyda Siri yw’r diffyg o fersiwn Cymraeg!  Pe bawn ni’n parhau â’r prosiect yma byddai’n gam naturiol i ni greu fersiwn dwyieithog.  Byddai’n wych i’r lleoliadau a’r defnyddwyr! Yn anffodus, nid oes Siri yn yr iaith Gymraeg!  Rhaid inni wneud rhywbeth ynghylch hyn…..

Dydd Iau diwethaf cawsom ein hail gyfarfod Pwyllgor Llywio yn Chapter.  Diolch yn fawr i bawb a fynychodd y cyfarfod wytnos diwethaf. Roedd eich adborth yn wirioneddol werthfawr ac roedd yn deimlad gwych i rannu ein diweddariadau gyda chi.  Roedd yn deimlad gyffrous i gwrdd â grŵp o bobl ysbrydoledig ac hyderus a gwneud penderfyniadau am yr app fel tim.  Mae’n bwysig iawn i ni barhau i gael prosiect arweiniol gan y defnyddiwr ac felly roedd hi’n dda i weld chi gyd a clywed yr hyn oedd ganddoch chi i’w ddweud.  Ddaru ni gadarnhau cynlluniau rhyngwyneb gyda’r grwp a ddaru nhw gadarnhau ein bod ni ar y trywydd cywir.

Hefyd wnaethom ni drafod swyddogaeth ‘Cip Olwg’ a pha wybodaeth sy’n hanfodol a beth sy’n ddiangen.  Roedd gan Megan a minnau bryderon ynglyn a defnyddio Siri ac hefyd pwy fyddai’n recordio beth.  Penderfynodd y tîm bod Siri yn arf da a byddai’n braf cael cymysgedd o ddau lais o fewn yr app. Diolch i chi unwaith eto am eich cefnogaeth ac am helpu ni i wneud yr app gorau y gallai fod. Welwn ni chi gyd cyn bo hir!

Felly beth nesaf …. ? Rydym yn cynnal mwy o weithdai i brofi’r app. Bydd y gweithdai yn llai o faint ac yn fwy penodol wrth i ni gwblhau pob swyddogaeth.  Byddwn hefyd yn y stiwdio recordio yn fuan yn recordio pob darn o’r ‘Cip Olwg’….  Cyffrous! Hefyd , mae’n debyg , byddwn yn gweithio’n galed iawn i gwblhau popeth mewn pryd!

Mared’s Blog Post

This month we got a dose of reality when we discovered that our final content deadline was fast approaching. We only have two months left to deliver all final content to Calvium! How did this happen? Where did the time go?  We are on track and things are coming together but the realisation of what we’re doing has really hit home. The reality is that this app could be so beneficial, so inspiring and so empowering to so many people. It could give anyone of us the freedom to visit arts venues with more confidence. We could feel liberated that with the aid of technology, we can all be put on an equal playing field. We all have rights, and having our various beautiful arts venues made accessible to all is certainly our right. The potential is huge and so are the benefits. This is what we’re excited about!

Last week we met Jo and Danielle to discuss the ‘Route’ function. Danielle is a member of the Calvium team who is working with us on developing the routing system for the venues. She is a coder and together they have come up with a very clever and intricate way of navigating and directing people indoors. They shared this with us last week and I have to say it’s brilliant! Even non technical minds can understand their system!

As a team we visited the Wales Millennium Centre to start gathering the necessary information for the ‘Route’.  We needed to confirm our landmarks and name them, work out the distance and direction between each of the possible landmarks and think of any additional information we might want to give people. For example, warnings about glass doors, lighting changes, busy spaces and so on.

We have decided, for practical reasons, to use Siri for this ‘Route’ function. This way it is less time consuming, less expensive and more flexible. For example, if anything changes in any of the venues at any time the Calvium team can quickly make some technical changes and the app will be updated, if the routes were recorded by Megan and I it would take much longer to correct and update. We think this will be effective as people are quite used to Siri by now and the Vi community are certainly used to listening to similar automated voices. We still want to keep this personal feel within the app and so Megan and I will still be recording the ‘Overviews’. Hopefully this balance should work nicely. The only downfall with Siri is the lack of a Welsh language version. If we were to continue with this project the natural next step would be to create a bilingual version. We think it would be a brilliant asset for venues and users. Unfortunately there is still no Welsh language Siri! We must do something about this…..

Last Thursday we had our second Steering Committee meeting at Chapter. Thank you so much to everyone who attended the meeting. You gave us really valuable feedback and it was a great feeling to share our updates with you. It was such an exciting feeling to meet with a group of inspiring and confident people and make some decisions about the app. Continuing to make this a user lead project is vitally important to us and so it was brilliant to see you all and hear what you have to say.

We finalised some interface designs and the group gave us confidence that we’re getting it right. We also discussed the ‘Overview’ function and what information is vital and what’s just unnecessary. Megan and I also had some worries about the use of Siri and who would record what. The team decided that Siri was a good tool and it would be nice to have a blend of two voices. Thank you again for all your support and for helping us to make this the best it could be. See you all soon!

So what’s next….? We are running some more user testing workshops. Smaller and more specific tests as we finalise each function. We will also be in the recording studio soon recording all of the ‘Overviews’…. Exciting! Also, I suppose, we will be working very hard to complete everything in time!
