UCAN's Most Amazing News Ever!!

Today, UCAN Productions has been named as one of several theatre companies within the UK to receive funding for further projects by Sir Ian Mckellen CBE.

To coincide with Mckellen’s 80th birthday, he has announced that he is presenting a series of solo shows at the Harold Pinter Theatre, London, in which he is donating proceeds from ticket sales to theatre groups throughout the UK. This is essential funding that will aide in the development of future projects for our members and will help us in reaching out to further young people with visual impairments and introducing them to the world of theatre and drama.

“We are beyond delighted to have been chosen by Sir Ian McKellen for this funding. As funding for the arts continues to be under such pressure this allows UCAN and its members to look to the future with confidence” Jane Latham BEM, Development Director

MAN IN THE MOON (A day in the life of Bob)

Young UCAN members took at trip to the Moon recently with the help of Bob, Space Man Al and the UCAN Space Cadets. This free tactile and interactive storytelling session was held at Cardiff Central Library and specifically designed for young visually impaired children aged 5 years and over and their families. A great deal of fun was had with space slime, smelly rocks and the tactile surface of the moon, complete with craters! This project is funded the People's Health Trust, Active Communities Programme.
